Irving Berlin and Moss Hart's topical revue was an enormous hit when it opened on Broadway in 1933 during the Great Depression. AS THOUSANDS CHEER is the Depression era version of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and POLITICALLY INCORRECT. Moss Hart's sharp and witty sketches skewer celebrity divorces, voyeurism, politics (an unpopular Republican leaving the White House), the real estate crash and tabloid headlines. Irving Berlin's songs range from wry to satiric to poignant. The score includes the Irving Berlin classics "Heat Wave," "Easter Parade" and "Supper Time."

Feleceia Benton, Brian Patrick Hathaway, Doug Jackson, Shannon McGrann, Randy Pearlman and Diana Sheehan will be directed by Len Pfluger in Lyric Stage's production. Music Direction is by Gary Okeson, Scenic Design is by Scott Osborne, Lighting Design is by Susan A. White, Costume Design is by Drenda Lewis and Properties Design is by Jane Quetin.
